Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?
No. Anyone can see a podiatrist without a referral. However, if you are having your costs covered by WorkCover, the Department of Veteran Affairs or as part of an Enhanced Primary Care plan, you will need to see your GP for a referral.
Is there car parking available on site?
Yes. Our clinic is located at 721 Albany Creek Road, Albany Creek within the Greenview Village complex. There is ample off-road parking on site with disabled parking options and wheelchair access to the clinic.
Will my health fund cover the cost of my podiatry treatments?
You should give your health fund a call to check if your treatment is covered. Rebates vary between health funds. Please phone reception and we can provide you with the item codes so you can check with your health fund. We have HICAPS machines available in reception, which means you can swipe your private health card and only pay the gap.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first appointment to allow time to complete some paperwork prior to your appointment. You will need to bring shoes that you wear on a regular basis, any previous scans or xrays, current orthotics (if applicable), private health fund card (if applicable), and any correspondence from your GP that may be relevant. Please wear appropriate clothing (such as shorts or tights) to allow the podiatrist to observe the way that you walk.
How long does an appointment usually go for?
Our initial consultations can take up to 30 minutes and will include a discussion of your medical history and the symptoms of your presenting complaint, and a thorough assessment of your feet. Your appointment may also involve footwear advice, suggested exercises, gait analysis and the diagnosis and treatment of your presenting complaint.
Do you offer home visits?
Yes! At Action Podiatry, we understand that it can sometimes be hard for our patients to come to see us in the clinic due to reduced mobility. For this reason, we offer a home visit service which means that our podiatrists come to visit you in your home. We bring everything we need, and just require our patients to be sitting comfortably in a chair to perform treatment.
