The purpose of a Doppler ultrasound is to assess the blood flow to the feet. This is particularly relevant for people who have poor circulation, are smokers, diabetic, have high cholesterol or blood pressure, or have unexplained pain in their legs or feet. If we notice any abnormality in our routine testing, we will recommend a Doppler ultrasound assessment. As part of this assessment we will calculate a Toe Brachial Index (TBI) which determines if there is any concerns with the blood flow to your feet - also known as Peripheral Arterial Disease.
